Inherit configuration schedule and pause state separately #4114

drdt ·

Before I open a ticket for this, I wanted to make sure there wasn't something I am missing.

I have a group of jobs which all run on the same schedule (start at ten minutes past midnight, with a 20-minute random range so they don't actually start at the exact same time). We frequently add and remove jobs from this list. So, I created a "Scheduler" configuration with these rules, and then when we add a new child configuration, inherit the schedule.
However, doing so, it is not possible to pause any of the child configurations. I can pause the parent, which will pause all children. But I cannot pause the one problem child and let others run.
I can, of course, see a case where pausing them all at once would also be valuable. So I would most like to see:

  • separate pause state from the schedule, so that individual configs that share a schedule can be paused separately.
  • if the parent config is paused, have that override the pause-state of the child configs.
This is also a solution to similar question I saw elsewhere in the forum.

I recognize that the second request breaks the inheritence model, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.
